Low carbon steel tubes

A more sustainable choice

 

Low-carbon steels are an important part of sustainable industry and construction. We wanted to play our part in taking a step towards a low-carbon future by adding low-carbon steel tubes from quality European manufacturers to our stock range.

Choosing recycled steel tubes manufactured using the electric arc process alone can reduce CO₂ emissions from manufacturing by up to 65% compared to the traditional blast furnace process. A large part of our normal stock range already meets this level today.

As we now move to the next stage, we are also introducing the most low-carbon products in our range, with fossil-free energy sources in the manufacturing process enabling up to 85% lower overall emissions.

Benteler Climore® seamless steel tubes are based on a three-tier grouping of Advantage, Ambition and Excellence, with Advantage and Ambition levels currently available.

Advantage
Made from recycled scrap steel in an electric arc furnace - approx. 65% lower CO₂ emissions compared to conventional.

Ambition
Same manufacturing process combined with renewable energy - approx. 80% lower CO₂ emissions compared to conventional.

ArcelorMittal XCarb®

XCarb® products are manufactured using significant amounts of recycled steel and renewable energy at various stages of the production process. The material is produced in an electric arc furnace, with a minimum carbon dioxide emission of only 300 kg per tonne of finished steel.
